CHEVROLET EV Mobility

More like a product being used

than a car being driven

My task was to design a two compact EV vehicles that were part of a greater mobility system.

One was a two person tandem seating vehicle about the size of a Renault Twizzy…

… And the other was a three seater about the size of a Smart Car.

Human centric vehicle design… in a small scale

One thing we noticed while creating foam seating bucks is that half the people that sat in them felt claustrophobic and the other half felt too exposed. The scale of the car caused people to be extremely sensitive to the amount of open and closed space.

Keeping this is mind, I wanted to constantly evaluate the design with the human frame nearby.

We needed to remind design leadership and ourselves at times of the scale of these vehicles.

PROCESS

This was the most thoroughly designed show car project that I have ever worked on. The most challenging part of this project was that the interior theme was so connected to the exterior theme. Every time they moved the IP surfaces, it moved my headlight. Every time I moved my taillight, it moved their head rests. This element of the design forced ALOT of communication and collaboration.
